With the latest firmware update, can ps3 play .avi video files?I'm pretty sure they couldn't play them before, or be very glitchy if they could.

The PS3 has been able to play AVI files for a while. The problem with AVI files is that they are just containers for different audio and video files (from what I understand). So basically, some AVI files work, and some don't because of incompatible audio or video codecs.
Most of the AVI files that I use work. I guess it depends on where you get them from. I usually get Xvid or DivX labeled files, and they usually don't have any problems.
