Idea About Computer Station?I have an idea to make an all in one computer station that plays pc games, you can watch tv, use the internet and much more all on ur tv. I know alot of people hook there computers to there TVS but that's only so they can use media centers. Do u think people would be interested in buying this. I could say its like a ps3, computer and a tv...(It will have a tv tuner)

I was thinking of using the asus eee box as it is the smallest tower out there and im sure no one would like to have a huge desktop near there tv. So any suggestions.

Oh yeh becoz it will have a tv tuner people could watch tv on it.. And the media center im gonna use can record as many shows at onc and rewind live tv.. So that would make it like a TiVo aswell.

Thanks for Answering

First off, not a bad idea - but you're not the first. Don;t want to blow You out of the water and dis Your dream, but ... be advised You WILL be running through a well-carved jungle path.

There are about 50 odd hardware devices that were started as these projects, and it seems that You A) Don't know about any of them yet, and B) are way off on the capabilities of a PC hooked up to a TV set.

These devices have been around since the mid-90's, about 1995 to be exact, when Windows came out with the 95b release. One of the first high-cost multimedia products was a video card with a TV output.

Now - with HD and 1080i sets, there are even hard drive cases available that play all media files right through a video output, no computer necessary.

As far as games and recording TV, the system with a video output still functions completely as a PC, just using the TV as a monitor. So simply getting a video card with a built-in TV tuner and recording software (most cards over $ 65.00 have that feature already) solves that dilemma.

Take a look at the REALLY old "WebTV" by doing a search for it on any search engine. This was avery early Microsoft attempt at the same thing, and turned to be a basically Internet capable "Pong" class nightmare find-able at any yard sale for $ 2.50.

The problem You'll face most is the subscriber requirement, to feed content and make sure it's completely up to date, and hardware updates for it all.

Using the EeePC is also a bad idea because of the small SSD. You'd probably want to start wth something like the Acer Aspire One, trim it down to the minimum necessary from vista (Or get it with the Linux OS out of the box), and then research what it would cost to include the games You have in mind (that most buyers might not like, or want their younger kids playing), to install them onto the first 2500 units You expect to sell, repair, and maintain under warranties for at least a full Year from their purchase date (Shelf-sitting time not included).

And lastly - aren't there PSP add-ons now that allow TV viewing?. i've had some of the same idea for a while (like 15 years), as far as a genuine computer that would run multiple utility programs on a PDA sized actual computer, not on WinCE or WinMobile but a full XP version, in a handheld case. now I'm looking into "Hacks n Mods" for those devices that people have already written to get the full power out of the hardware.

Good luck!.
