Playstation 3 80 Gig File sharing with windows media player 11?Ok, so when I go into WMP 11 click library options, then click on media sharing. Then i'll go to the ps3 80 gig and search for media servers, it does not show up in the devices box. What do I need to do to fix this? I have tried downloading 3rd party software, such as tversity and this does not work either.

make sure the ethernet cable used to connect your PC and ps3 together is a Cat5e Crossover cable. most good pc stores should stock htem
it needs to be a crossover type. if you use a normal Cat5e cable it will not work.
to check its a crossover cabel your usign the ends should have the coloured wires laaid out diffrnetly.

Are you sure you setup tversity correctly?
I actually got it to work by following these instrcutions:
http://www.coderetard.com/2008/06/22/turn-ps3-into-a-media-server-with-tversity/
Try going through it again, and good luck?

I used WMP11 and it works good. First manually configure your PS3 with a static IP address (example: 192.168.1.12)and the same subnet mask (255.255.255.0) as your network, (Especially if you are using wireless.) On your server make sure your firewall is configured to allow traffic both ways for your PS3 and from a dos prompt get your DNS servers and default gateway( type ipconfig/all ) you'll need it when you manually configure the PS3. If you can view a network map (see what PC's are on your network) do that make sure that ur PS3 sees your network. (try using the internet browser if you can get to the PS network you are close to getting ur medai server. The rest should be ok. Wireless media sharing is harder but if you connect the Ethernet cable I've heard its easier.
